Hope

Hope as faith and trust that “God works for the good for all who love him.” ~ Romans 8:28

I was listening to Glennon Doyle’s podcast last week and she and her guest were talking about hope.  They offered two sides of the coin on hope that offered the inspiration for this post.

I have heard hope is not a strategy.  I get that. I can’t sit on the floor in my living room hoping for a new sofa and it will not show up.  At some point I have to take action or that sofa isn’t coming. I can sum up this side of the coin and say that hope is not away to avoid the action that it takes to accomplish what I am hoping for.

It’s Easter Sunday the celebration of our Lord’s rising from the dead. Rising from the dead.  Had to hear that twice. Can you imagine burying your loved one and returning to the grave to find them gone?  What would you do, think and feel?  I don’t know what I would have done. I am aware that I am on the other side of the resurrection in my time on Earth and I have a bible to tell me how this shakes down. The apostles did not.

Let’s look at the other side of the coin of hope. Hope comes down to faith and trust. Do I have hope that God will work for the good for those who love Him?  Jesus’ resurrection gives us just that. Hope.  Faith that the impossible is possible and trust that our Lord will work for the good for those who love him.

How is your faith and trust in action? What is God doing for you?  How have you been resurrected?

Happy Easter Friends and may the joy of the resurrection bring you hope.
