Letting go of what no longer applies.

I did a hard thing today. For 3 plus years I have shoved all things related to our marriage in a closet. I even named it. The “divorce closet.”Today out of nowhere and maybe inspired by clarity with love and support from the master coaches in my life, I went in. I unloaded a box and a bag of phot...

What’s your favorite color?

I remember a time when I couldn’t answer this question or many others like it.  Like: How do I like my eggs, What’s my favorite ice cream flavor, What’s my favorite movie… I don’t know was the answer.  And, maybe I did know and was afraid to say. This season of life has me looking in all the places, the ones with light and the ones in darkness, for where I am curious about myself and where I can keep growing. Are you searching for the...

Hope as faith and trust that “God works for the good for all who love him.” ~ Romans 8:28I was listening to Glennon Doyle’s podcast last week and she and her guest were talking about hope.  They offered two sides of the coin on hope that offered the inspiration for this post. I recently went to confession and my penance was to pray the Divine Mercy.  I knew of it and not that much. I learned that the Divine Mercy (a novena or sequence of prayers) was brought to us by Jesus through Sister Maria Faustina Kowalaka. I had been driven to read her diary for a while now and if you have seen it you might understand why I kept walking away. It’s huge. Meaning its the thickest book I have picked up maybe ever. However, ...

Letting go of people, places and things that I deemed were in my destiny has been one the highest hurdles to climb. One of my spiritual advisors along the way challenged me, as she frequently does, is your God big enough to give you what you need?  Quite frankly, I wasn’t getting what I wanted and I was not happy about it. My somber answer to her question was no.I stayed right there in this “my God is too small” space for years.  I h...

Thankful

There is so much to be thankful for…. Some days I’m bouncing on clouds with a gratitude list, some days I’m forcing myself to come up with things, and some days I don’t feel it at all. Can you relate? I have come to know what keeps me out of gratitude is wanting things to be different than they are. Getting unstuck from a perceived crappy circumstance isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Acceptance is the way through. This year, we celebrated Th...
